Nigerian singer David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has spoken out about losing some of the closest people in his life.
The musician, who recently released his fourth studio album titled ‘Timeless’, opened up about the emotional pain he has experienced in losing his mother, son, and other loved ones.
In an interview with Beat FM, Davido revealed that one of the tracks on his new album, LNCD (Legends Can Never Die), is dedicated to his late mother, his late friends, and his late son, Ifeanye Adeleke.
The Afrobeat superstar lost his mother at the age of 10, followed by his best friend and bodyguard within two years. Then, on October 31, 2022, his three-year-old son, Ifeanye, drowned in a swimming pool.
Despite the immense pain and grief he has experienced, Davido described all the gone souls as “legends” who still live on spiritually.
He explained that the song is not about being sad, but rather about the belief that those who have passed away continue to be a part of our lives.

“I still have them around me in a kind of way. They were all legends. So that’s why I say that a legend never dies,” he said.
Davido’s new album, ‘Timeless’, is a 17-track body of work that was released on Friday, March 31, 2023.
The album comes months after the tragic death of his son, and the artist has dedicated it to everyone who has lost someone close to them.
The interview with Beat FM has since gone viral, with fans and fellow artists praising Davido for his strength and courage in the face of such tragedy.
Many have expressed their admiration for his ability to channel his pain into his music and use it to bring comfort to others.
