Tears as Deadly Fire Engulfs Mobil Station in Lagos

A devastating fire has broken out at a Mobil fuel station near the Lagos Airport Hotel on Obafemi Awolowo Road in Ikeja, Lagos, following a reported gas explosion.

The incident, which occurred on August 8, 2024, resulted in multiple injuries and the destruction of several vehicles at the scene.

Emergency services, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, were quickly dispatched to the location to battle the flames and provide aid to those affected.

In the aftermath, the road was temporarily closed to traffic to allow the emergency crews to safely carry out their operations and secure the area. The cause of the gas explosion that triggered the fire is currently under investigation by the relevant authorities.

Eyewitnesses have recounted the frightening scenes as the blaze rapidly spread, sending plumes of thick smoke into the air and triggering panic among nearby residents and commuters.

The Lagos State government has vowed to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and take necessary steps to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
