
<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>A tense standoff between an NDC communications officer and two soldiers attempting to access a polling station in the Obuasi East constituency has raised concerns about the presence of military personnel at polling stations. </strong></p>



<p>The incident, which occurred on December 7, 2024, has sparked widespread attention and debate.</p>



<p>Eyewitnesses reported that the altercation began when the soldiers, armed and in uniform, tried to enter the polling station.</p>



<p>The NDC communications officer, whose identity has not been disclosed, firmly refused to let the soldiers in, leading to a heated exchange.</p>



<p>Videos of the incident circulating on social media show the officer and soldiers locked in a tense standoff, with the officer insisting that the soldiers leave the area.</p>

<p>The situation took a more ominous turn when one of the soldiers fired a gun into the air during the disagreement. This incident has raised serious questions about the potential impact of military personnel on the electoral process.</p>



<p>The Ghana Armed Forces had previously assured that military personnel, including masked men, would not be present at polling stations during the elections. However, this incident has sparked concerns about the credibility of this assurance.</p>



<p>The Ghana Police Service has yet to release an official statement on the incident. As the country continues to vote, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining peace and transparency throughout the electoral process.</p>
