Much has been about the demise of Pokello and Elikem’s marriage, but the real reason why their marriage failed has never been really revealed.
The parties themselves, have hardly spoken about the dissolution of their marriage, only giving bits and pieces but never the full story.
Elikem and Pokello were Africa’s sweethearts and the ‘it couple’ after they met up on Big Brother Africa and the whole continent watched their love story unfold on reality television.
The two even got the cute portmanteau, ‘Polikem’ from fans. They seemed like the most stable couple to come out of the house which is known for its volatile relationships in the real world.
Pokello even got a fairytale marriage proposal, on a live stage in front of hundreds of people and they all went through the traditional marriage rites.
The former couple even had a baby together, Tristan and it seemed like their romance was written in the stars.
When they broke up, their fans were devastated, wondering what went wrong in the relationship.
Rumors of infidelity,money matters and immaturity swirled around in the tabloids but no one could pinpoint the exact reason.
Elikem however, recently opened up again on the marriage breakdown and said distance played a major part in their separation.
She was in Zimbabwe, he was in Ghana and one thing led to another, resulting in the couple drifting apart.
Said Elikem during an interview by Zim Celebs:
Things just went off, because of distance. She was there, I was here. This happened, that happened and before you know it, it’s no longer a thing to hold on to.
I don’t think it was a clash of personalities, distance did the most damage”
He went on to describe her as good woman and a good wife who took care of the home as well as her sons with such finesse. Both parties have since moved on after their break up.
