Derek Chauvin was convicted for the murder of George Floyd. He was sentenced to 22.5 years in prison.
After being sentenced, Derek Chauvin was sent straight to prison with 199 days credit for time he’s already served in jail.
Judge Cahill said the 270 month sentence he handed Chauvin is based on his “abuse in a position of authority & the “cruelty” he showed to
Derek, formerly with the MinneapolisPD was sentenced to 22.5 years in prison for killing GeorgeFloyd.
This is now the longest sentence ever given to a former cop for a killing committed in the line of duty.
