South Korean authorities reported the discovery of a deceased Ghanaian businessman in his 50s at a hotel in Seoul’s Gangnam district on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, coinciding with the Korea-Africa Summit.
According to the police, there were no indications of foul play, with illness suspected as the cause of death.
The businessman, identified as a company official, had traveled to Seoul to participate in a business counseling event associated with the Korea-Africa Summit.
The summit, spanning two days, emphasized themes of trade, technology, and investment, with a particular focus on bolstering ties in minerals and resources to enhance supply chain resilience in crucial industries like battery production.
In efforts to strengthen cooperation with Africa, South Korea unveiled plans to expand its Official Development Assistance (ODA) program to an estimated $10 billion by 2030.
