Red Star Belgrade secured their 34th league win against Backa Topola, thanks to an outstanding performance from their Ghanaian winger, Osman Bukari.
The 24-year-old scored a hat-trick in just 28 minutes to lead his team to a 4-1 victory at the Red Star Stadium.
Backa Topola got off to a good start, taking an early lead with Ifet Dakovac’s penalty kick. However, Bukari responded just before halftime, leveling the score and bringing Red Star back into the game.
The second half saw Red Star take control of the match, with a quick forward leading to the team taking the lead at the hour mark. Guelor Kanga then extended the lead eight minutes later.
But it was Bukari who stole the show, scoring his second and third goals in the 72nd and 75th minutes, respectively. With just 15 seconds left in the match, Bukari sealed the victory for Red Star, securing their league title.
Bukari’s outstanding performance comes as no surprise, as he has been in excellent form since joining the Serbian powerhouses during the summer transfer window. This was his second hat-trick for the team, taking his tally to 11 goals in the league in 25 games.
Red Star Belgrade signed Bukari on 21 June 2022, in a deal worth €3 million. He made his club debut against Radnički Niš and scored in the same match. Bukari was also the man of the match with three goals and an assist in Red Star Belgrade’s UEFA Champions League qualifying match against Pyunik, which the Serbian team won 5-0.
Bukari’s exceptional left-footed volley in the 1-1 draw against rivals Partizan has also been considered one of the best goals seen in the Eternal derby.
Red Star Belgrade’s victory against Backa Topola is a testament to the team’s depth and quality, with Bukari’s hat-trick being the icing on the cake.
With the league title now secured, Red Star can focus on their upcoming fixtures, with Bukari undoubtedly a key player in the team’s success.
