Samia Nkrumah, daughter of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah, has spoken out against the ongoing disparagement of her father’s legacy.
In a recent interview, she shared her personal experiences of encountering vicious comments about her father, dating back to 1975 during General Acheampong’s regime.
Samia recalled how people openly accused her father of theft and amassing wealth, even sharing a painful anecdote of her teacher calling her father a thief in class, leaving her feeling embarrassed and hurt.
These experiences have made her acutely aware of the persistent efforts to tarnish her father’s reputation.

Samia emphasized that her father’s only possessions were a gifted land and house, which he later returned to the state, contradicting the narrative of Nkrumah’s supposed wealth and corruption.
Her account adds to the growing chorus of voices defending Nkrumah’s legacy, including recent comments by NAPO.
