National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has dismissed President Akufo-Addo’s call for a debate with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking in the Ningo Prampram Constituency, Mahama stated that engaging with Bawumia would only elevate the Vice President.
Mahama’s response follows Akufo-Addo’s suggestion that he was avoiding a debate due to fear of Bawumia exposing weaknesses in his policies. However, Mahama rejected this argument, emphasizing that debating Bawumia was unnecessary.
Instead, Mahama urged Bawumia to focus on debating the Ghanaian people and addressing the government’s failings. He highlighted Bawumia’s role as head of the Economic Management Team, holding him responsible for the country’s economic challenges.

Mahama further called on Bawumia to apologize to Ghanaians for the government’s economic mismanagement. “I will not bring Bawumia to my level by debating him. He should go and debate the people of Ghana and apologize to them. I know my level,” Mahama stated.
This development comes amidst the ongoing debate surrounding the 2024 presidential election, with Mahama’s refusal to engage in a debate with Bawumia sparking varied reactions from political analysts and citizens alike.
