National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has delivered a scathing rebuke to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s claims of royal lineage.
Appearing on CTV’s Dwabo morning show on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, Nketia dismantled NAPO’s assertions, citing the Akan tradition of matrilineal inheritance.
Asiedu Nketia underscored that NAPO’s grandfather, Prempeh, was indeed an Asantehene, but Akan custom dictates that inheritance follows the maternal line, rendering NAPO’s royal claims baseless.
Furthermore, Nketia seized on NAPO’s perceived arrogance, declaring it a boon for the NDC. He recalled Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s counsel to NAPO to dispel criticisms of arrogance, only for NAPO to disrespect Kwame Nkrumah on a campaign platform.
