In a heart-wrenching ordeal, a Nigerian bride, identified as @explorraa on TikTok, shared her harrowing experience of losing her sight just 36 hours before her wedding.
The unfortunate incident occurred after a pharmacist prescribed the wrong eye drop, instructing her to use it at night.
Awakening the next day, the bride found herself blind, with her pupils dilated and her eyes tearing up in response to light rays. Rushed back to the pharmacist, she encountered another pharmacist on duty who expressed shock at the prescribed eye drop’s extremity.
It was revealed that the eye drop was typically used by ophthalmologists to intentionally dilate pupils before examining the health of the optic nerve and retina. Realizing the gravity of her situation, she was promptly booked for an emergency appointment with an optometrist.
Tragically, the optometrist informed her that the timeframe between the incident and her wedding was too short for a full recovery of her sight. Despite her condition, the bride bravely proceeded with her wedding while undergoing medical attention in hopes of regaining her vision.
Narrating her ordeal, she recounted the distressing events leading up to her wedding day, emphasizing the devastating impact of the wrong prescription and the challenges she faced in navigating her newfound blindness.
She lamented, “How I lost my sight 24 hours before my wedding and got married partially blind. 36 hours before my wedding, I went to the drugstore to get eye drops because my eyes were a bit red from preparation stress.”
Despite her plight, the pharmacist who initially prescribed the eye drop was unavailable, leaving her to grapple with the consequences of the wrong medication.
