A Juneteenth celebration in Oakland, California, turned violent when multiple people were shot.
The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. on the north side of Lake Merritt, near an illegal sideshow involving vehicles and motorbikes.
A fight broke out and multiple shots were fired, with at least four people struck by gunfire and taken to a hospital.
No deaths have been reported. As police tried to clear the area, several officers were assaulted by the crowd.
At least one person was taken into custody for assaulting an officer.
This incident comes after a shooting at a Juneteenth celebration at Lake Merritt in 2021 left a 22-year-old man dead.
The investigation into Wednesday night’s shooting is ongoing.
