Kenya Police Captured Dragging Woman Behind Motorbike In Viral Video
A Kenyan police officer has been captured in a viral video dragging a woman tied to a motorbike behind him.
The video of the Kenya Police Officer dragging the woman behind him in a motorbike has ignited outrage online social media.
The woman has been identified as Mercy Cherono. She was dragged on the floor as punishment for allegedly being involved in a robbery in Nakuru county, in the Rift Valley region where they were said to have stolen some items.
Witnesses at the scene stated that the woman was one of several suspects that were arrested as they tried to steal from a house belonging to the deputy OCS on June 6.
The woman is heard pleading with the policeman to stop and cover her body as her clothes had been pulled off by the rough path, exposing her to several onlookers.
In the video, one of the men cheering the OCS is seen whipping the woman on the back amidst her screams.
According to the lady who has been hospitalized after she suffered wounds on the arm and legs, she knows the police officer who did that act.
Kenya’s Independent Policing Oversight Authority upon glancing on the video has stated that they would do everything possible to bring the police officer to face the law as it wasn’t right to treat the lady that way even if she had stolen.
“We will make appropriate recommendations if culpability is established”. They said in a public statement that was been made.
