Tragedy struck at the Kumasi-Abrepo Junction last Friday, May 17, 2024, when a private vehicle with registration number GS 9494-21 crashed into five people, resulting in the devastating loss of a female community police officer’s life.
The incident, captured on CCTV footage, shows the vehicle’s brakes failing, causing it to lose control and hit the victims.
The deceased officer and a fellow officer were selflessly managing traffic due to a malfunctioning traffic light when the accident occurred.
Four others, including another police officer, were injured in the crash.
Witnesses described the harrowing scene, stating that the vehicle’s brakes failed, leading to tragic consequences.
An investigation into the incident is underway to determine the cause of the brake failure. The injured victims are receiving medical attention.
