A professional mermaid in South Africa at the Randburg shopping mall found herself in a precarious situation as her tail got entangled on the reef inside the aquarium tank.

The incident unfolded on Saturday, November 25, right in front of a crowd of concerned shoppers.

In a video capturing the event, the mermaid can be seen swimming upwards before her tail unexpectedly catches on the reef at the tank’s bottom.

Faced with a struggle for breath, the skilled performer swiftly removes her tail, making a quick ascent to the surface for much-needed air.
