Mahama Promises One Million Coding Jobs If Elected

Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform Ghana’s digital economy with a $3 billion investment in digital jobs.

Speaking at a public lecture at the Christian Service University in Kumasi, Mahama emphasized the importance of technology in driving economic growth and combating unemployment.

The “One Million Coders Programme” aims to equip young people with skills and tools for the 21st-century economy. Mahama also pledged to revive the traditional export sector, particularly cocoa farming, and increase production in the oil and gas sector.

He criticized the current administration for not developing additional oil wells, warning that Ghana’s resources may become “stranded assets” in the global shift towards green energy.

Mahama promised that his government would seek greater control over Ghana’s natural resources, processing them to attract investments in farming, industry, and agribusiness, leading to increased export potentials and a stable currency.

This plan is expected to be a key aspect of the NDC’s campaign, offering a vision for a robust digital ecosystem and economic growth.
