Ghanaian former president John Dramani Mahama has reacted to the awful killing of George Floyd, a US citizen who was ‘suffocated’ to death under the hands of the police.
Taking to his Facebook page to share his sentiment, the former president of the Republic of Ghana said, “The systemic prejudices and injustices faced by black people in America is based on racism – it makes no distinction on the basis of migration history, national origin, social class or educational attainment. They are concerned, solely, with the color of your skin. That is because the issue at hand is not ‘respectability’, it is racism.”
According to John Dramani Mahama, most cases of injustice faced by blacks in the United States of America (USA) was because of their skin color.

“Recent events in America have brightened the moral spotlight on the systemic prejudice and danger that black people there experience solely because of the color of their skin.”
George Floyd’s death has provoked protests by ‘concerned’ individuals in Minneapolis which has spread across the country.
