A piece of sad news from the community of Nekede in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, an unidentified man brutally attacked his wife over suspicions of infidelity, leaving her severely injured.
The harrowing episode unfolded on April 10, when a neighbor alerted the husband about his wife’s alleged extramarital affair in their matrimonial home. Rushing back, the husband reportedly found his wife with her lover in their bedroom, while their 6-year-old daughter was left unattended in the living room.
In a fit of rage, the husband attacked his wife with a knife, inflicting severe injuries. Shocking footage of the assault circulated on social media, sparking outrage and calls for justice.
While the wife’s lover was allowed to leave unharmed, the wife bore the brunt of the husband’s violent outburst.
Reacting to the incident, the Imo State Police Command stated on Friday, urging residents of Nekede to provide any information that could assist in the investigation. The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a thorough probe and uncover the facts surrounding the incident.
“We urge the public, particularly residents of Nekede, to report any information they may have about the incident to the nearest Police Station or via 08148024755. Let us work together to ensure justice prevails in this case,” stated the police command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye.
