Dr. David Emmanuel Ovie, the General Overseer of God in Action Liberation Mission, has initiated legal action against a church member who requested the return of his Lexus SUV following an alleged failed prophecy, seeking N500 million in damages.
The church member, identified as Temitope Monday Diamond, claimed he surrendered his Lexus RX330 to the church after a prophecy from the head pastor, who instructed him to sacrifice his most valuable possession for financial prosperity.
Despite the pastor’s assurances, after four months with no improvement in his financial situation, Temitope’s wife contacted the pastor, prompting him to promise a refund of the vehicle’s sale proceeds, totaling N4 million.
However, the pastor failed to fulfill this promise despite repeated attempts by Temitope and his wife to contact him.
Subsequently, when Temitope and his associates visited the church accompanied by two unarmed soldiers for security, they were met with hostility from the pastor and church members. The situation escalated, leading to their detention by the police on false kidnapping allegations.
Despite a police investigation favoring Temitope’s claims and an agreement by the pastor to repay the money, no payment was made. In response, Temitope demanded the return of his car, leading to the pastor’s lawsuit alleging intimidation and false accusations.
However, the court document reveals discrepancies in the pastor’s claims, as he alleges being arrested and detained on the same day Temitope and his associates visited the church, suggesting a complex legal battle ahead.
