Snr. Charles Nii Armah Mensah, father to Shatta Wale has revealed that detaining his son at the police station was extremely unlawful.

Sources close to the happening said Shatta Wale has officially been charged by the Police for offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace and Stonebwoy has also been charged with the use of an offensive weapon, the display of a firearm in public and threat to harm.

Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale both spent the night in Police cells following their detention by the Accra Regional Police Command over the gun incident on the VGMA stage Sunday.

The two were questioned by the Police on Sunday in connection with the disturbances that rocked the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).

The programmed was marred by a brawl between the two musicians after Shatta Wale and his followers stormed the stage when Stonebwoy was declared as Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year.

But in the rightful thinking of Shatta Capo, the police got it all wrong for detaining his son.

Speaking to DJ Reuben of Kumasi based Luv FM, Shatta Capo posited that the police couldn’t say openly the wrongful act of Shatta Wale. However, they detained him for a night; an action by the police he’s finding it so difficult to understand.

Shatta Capo added that the police had every right to detain Stonebwoy because he pulled out a gun compared to Shatta Wale who appeared harmless.

Regardless, Police say charges are yet to be preferred against the two since investigations are ongoing.
