
<p>While acknowledging that he was guilty of doing it himself as a child, Pope Francis has condemned body shaming. He said this while speaking via video link to college students in Asia.</p>



<p>A woman from India related to him how, as a teenager, she had been bullied and felt ashamed of her weight and physical type in comparison to her peers.</p>

<p>The Pope responded, &#8220;It doesn&#8217;t matter if you&#8217;re overweight, thin, short, or tall; what matters is that you live in peace within your souls. Every man and woman has a unique beauty, and we must learn to recognise it.</p>



<p>Before he responded to the woman, who also discussed the pressures,He told her a personal tale about social media.</p>



<p>Pope Francis recalled that when a friend of his was a little overweight, &#8220;we actually mocked him, I dare say bullied him, we once shoved him and he fell down.&#8221;</p>



<p>He added, &#8220;When I returned home, my father found out about it and he took me to this classmate&#8217;s house to apologise.</p>



<p>Francis, 86, claimed he had reconnected with the acquaintance and learned that he had evolved into an Evangelical pastor. Man passed away recently.</p>

<p>In his discussion with the college students, Francis also brought up cosmetic surgery.</p>



<p>He quoted the well-known tale of Italian actress Anna Magnani from the 20th century who requested &#8220;Please don&#8217;t fix my wrinkles,&#8221; noting &#8220;Plastic surgery serves no use because its beauty is going to fade someday. I needed to work so hard to earn them.</p>
