
<p>In Nigeria&#8217;s southern state of Rivers, which is wealthy in oil, at least six people have perished from electrocution.<br>The victims allegedly met their deaths while installing a billboard.</p>



<p>According to reports, the incident took place at the Amaechi-School Road intersection in Rumuosi, near the East-West Road in the State&#8217;s Obio-Akpor local government area.</p>

<p>The victims were allegedly attempting to install a church billboard at the intersection when the iron from the board made contact with the high-tension pole.</p>



<p>The source claimed that while some victims passed away instantly, others had to be brought to a hospital where a doctor declared them dead.</p>



<p>It was also reported that some people had suffered varying degrees of injuries as a result of the incident.<br>The event has been confirmed by the Rivers State Police Command, who also stated that an investigation is still ongoing.</p>



<p>The Rivers State Signage and Advertising Agency, however, has denied knowing about the billboard&#8217;s construction beforehand.</p>



<p>The RISAA stated that it was committed to upholding high standards in the distribution of billboards and external signage within the state.<br>Okechukwu Edenkwo, the agency&#8217;s head of mobile advertising, stated in a DAILY POST interview that the company is adamant on upholding standards of professionalism.</p>



<p>When people erect structures and signs without consulting the agency, we take offense.We have no idea what caused yesterday&#8217;s events in any way.</p>
