BUSTED! Takoradi Woman Who Faked Pregnancy And Kidnap F!ned GH7.2k

A GH7,200.00 fine has been imposed on the woman involved in the contentious false kidnapping and pregnancy case in Takoradi.

On Thursday, November 17, 2022, Josephine Panyin Mensah was fined by the Takoradi Circuit Court, presided over by His Worship Michael Kwadwo.

The penalty is due to the spread of fake news. She was cleared by the court of the second accusation of deceiving a public official, nevertheless.

Josephine Panyin Mensah’s reported kidnapping story made headlines in September of last year, worrying both her family and the nation.

She was dumb, disheveled, and devoid of any indication that she was pregnant when she was discovered at Axim, some distance from Takoradi.

After the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, declared the pregnancy was bogus, claims that she delivered on the same day she was supposedly kidnapped and the baby was carried away by her purported kidnappers came under scrutiny.

The Minister’s report on the subject, which concluded that there was no pregnancy and that the kidnapping episode was manufactured, was supported by further police investigations.

When the accused was admitted, the Axim Government Hospital’s Medical Superintendent later acknowledged that she was a healthy, non-pregnant, pre-menopausal woman.
