The US government has announced its support for Ghanaian farmers by providing a US$7 million. The funding aims to assist farmers in a selected districts in the Northern Regions of Ghana by improving their agricultural practices, increasing productivity, and ensuring food security in the country.
The support comes as a part of the US government’s commitment to promoting sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Africa led by the U.S Agency for International Development (USAID) and UN World Food Programme (WFP). This support would be implemented through a cash transfer system in two(2) installments.
17,000 farmers across Upper East, Upper West, Northeast and Northern Regions will receive payment during the three-month season spanning from June to August 2023.
The government through Ministry of Food and Agriculture, MTN, National Identity Authority and WFP among others has already identified and registered the beneficiaries of this project.
