Veteran Nollywood actress, Stella Ikwuegbu, has passed away at the age of 72 after a long battle with cancer.
Her death was announced by her family, who revealed that she died peacefully in her sleep.
Stella’s career in the entertainment industry spanned over four decades, during which she appeared in numerous films, television series, and stage plays. She was known for her exceptional talent, versatility, and ability to bring characters to life with her remarkable performances.
Born on August 15, 1950, in Ogidi, Anambra State, Stella began her acting career in the 1970s, performing in various stage plays and theater productions. She later transitioned to television and film, becoming a household name in Nigeria and beyond.
Stella’s notable works include her roles in “Ripples,” a popular television series in the 1980s, and “The Village Headmaster,” a classic Nigerian film. She also appeared in numerous Nollywood films, including “The Egg of Life,” “The Wicked,” and “The Return of the Egg of Life.”
Throughout her career, Stella received numerous awards and nominations for her outstanding performances. She was also honored with a lifetime achievement award for her contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Stella is survived by her husband, four children, and grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held on July 22, 2024, in her hometown of Ogidi, Anambra State.
