What is Lassa Fever which has over 13 cases that have been reported in Ghana? The viral illness which is spreading in Africa has caused an alert in the Sub-Saharan part of the continent.

12 new cases were reported and 14 cases were confirmed.
The Lasa fever has unfortunately claimed 1 death.
Zero cases of recovery have been made.
What is Lassa fever:
Lassa fever is an animal-borne, or zoonotic, acute viral illness spread by the common African rat. It is endemic in parts of West Africa including Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, and Nigeria.
Neighboring countries are also at risk because the animal vector lives throughout the region.
