OccupyGh.com has learnt that a Ghanaian woman who has been marriage for over 20 year without conceiving has finally birthed quintuplets to the surprise of many.
Maame Cynthia, 45-year-old has been blessed with 5 kids after 20 years of marriage with no child. Her joy comes with three sons and 2 daughters as she delivers at Sam-J Specialist Hospital at Haatso in Accra.
Maame Cynthia recalled how her first marriage lead to destruction and subsequent divorce because she couldn’t conceive. The young woman said her situation back then did not stop her from hoping for better days.
With the support of doctors and nurses at the Sam-J Specialist Hospital. She said: “I can smile at the storm.”
Cynthia urged women struggling to have children to be inspired by her story and faith in God.
Meanwhile, a gynecologist at the hospital, Samuel Amo-Mensah, was happy the IVF was successful. He said the five babies are under observation in incubators to ensure they don’t get any infection.
“Mother and babies are doing incredible; we are so happy with how everything turned out,” he added.
Amo-Mensah said IVF is bringing relief to a lot of homes in Ghana, but the only challenge is the high taxes on the imported tablets for the treatment.
He appealed to the government to reduce the taxes on IVF tablets to make the treatment more accessible to couples in need.
