An 85-year-old woman, who found herself displaced from her home due to the Akosombo Dam spillage, is now seeking government assistance to rebuild her collapsed house.
Following the Volta River Authority’s decision to release water from the Akosombo Dam on October 15, 2023, to prevent potential overtopping, over 4,000 residents in Ghana’s southeastern region have been affected by widespread flooding.

The elderly woman, now residing at a camp in St. Kizito, Mepe, is among those who have been impacted by the flooding crisis.
Her plea highlights the urgent need for assistance to help those affected by this environmental emergency in the region.
