Asamoah Gyan, the former captain of the Black Stars, has shared his thoughts on the reported $200 million offer presented to Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey by a Saudi Arabian club.
In a tweet, Gyan responded with a zipped mouth emoji to a question regarding whether Partey, considering his age, should accept the tempting offer or continue his career in Europe.
Gyan himself made a surprising move from Sunderland to the United Arab Emirates after just one season in England. He disclosed in an interview with FourFourTwo that Al Ain, a club in the UAE, presented him with an offer that was too good to turn down.
Explaining his decision, Gyan stated, “I was enjoying my football, but Al Ain offered me wages that instantly made me the best-paid footballer in Africa. I couldn’t resist.”
According to reports, the Saudi offer for Partey involves an annual tax-free salary of $100 million over a two-year period.
Saanie Daara, the former spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association, shared the details on Twitter, revealing, “Arsenal star Thomas Partey has been offered $200 million in wages by a club in Saudi Arabia. Partey will earn an annual, tax-free salary of $100 million if he signs the two-year deal. The Saudi clubs interested in Partey are Al Ahli, Al Nassr, and Al Khaleej.
Amidst the speculation, Italian side Juventus has also shown interest in the 30-year-old midfielder.Partey, who joined Arsenal in the summer of 2020, still has two years remaining on his current contract.
