Heavy rainfall on Monday, May 6, 2024, caused widespread flooding in Accra’s Kwame Nkrumah Circle, a notorious hotspot for flooding during the rainy season.
The deluge submerged the interchange and surrounding areas, leaving behind a trail of debris and garbage.
Despite promises from successive governments to address the issue since the devastating floods of June 3, 2015, the problem persists.
The Circle Fire Station, located underneath the overhead bridge, was also inundated, highlighting the severity of the situation.
As the floodwaters receded, concerns remained about the lack of progress in fixing clogged drains and expanding others to prevent such occurrences.
The recurring issue has left residents in a state of fear and panic, wondering when a lasting solution will be found.
